Andrea Y. Carothers, a remarkable individual with a truly inspiring journey. Born on October 9, 1967, to Alexander (Lattie) Walters, Andrea faced the early loss of her biological father. However, resilience and the embrace of a loving family played a pivotal role in shaping her life. Her mother remarried, and Roye Edwards became the father figure she needed.
Andrea’s story unfolds against the backdrop of General Motors, where her father worked in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1981, their lives took a new direction as they transferred to the Bowling Green Assembly Plant. At just 13 years old, Andrea embarked on a new chapter in her education at Bowling Green Junior High School, eventually graduating from Bowling Green High in 1985.
With a deep commitment to family, Andrea is a proud mother of three and a doting grandmother. Her dedication to her loved ones extends to her professional life, where she has held only four positions, spanning diverse sectors including health, food, detergent, and her defining career at the GM Bowling Green Assembly, which she commenced in 2000.
In the years that followed, Andrea’s journey led her to Fort Wayne, Indiana, from 2010 to 2012, only to return to Bowling Green. Her unwavering dedication and craftsmanship were evident as she worked diligently on the Corvette assembly line until 2017. Then, a new challenge emerged as she was transferred to the Performance Build Center (PBC), where her talents truly shone. Andrea specialized in crafting high-performance engines, contributing her skills to create engines for Corvette, Camaro, and even marine applications. Andrea’s excellence in her craft was undeniable, garnering recognition through numerous awards in quality, quantity, and performance. In both 2020 and 2021, she achieved the remarkable feat of building the most engines, showcasing her unwavering commitment to excellence. Her achievements even extended beyond the assembly line as she became the face of General Motors advertising campaign, with her image gracing billboards across the nation.
A true trailblazer, Andrea shattered barriers as the first female to achieve a perfect score of ten in a row for performance engine builds, a testament to her dedication and precision. Her remarkable journey was celebrated on a national stage when she appeared on Good Morning America 3 alongside her daughters in 2023.
In summary, Andrea Y. Carothers embodies the spirit of dedication, perseverance, and excellence. Her journey from adversity to triumph is a testament to the power of resilience and the pursuit of excellence!
