Ray Theriault became Plant Director of General Motors Bowling Green Assembly in June 2023. Having grown up in Milford, Michigan, near the Proving Grounds, he often listened to Corvettes on track and longed to be part of the vehicle’s rich history. He went on to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Tech University and a Masters in Automotive Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Ray has nearly 30 years with General Motors, with a background in Global Propulsion Systems and Vehicle Assembly for cars and trucks. He spent five years with GM International Operations in China, responsible for manufacturing quality and quality assurance in Asia, Africa, and Australia. Over his career, he has held roles including Quality Manager, Quality Operations Director, Assistant Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Director, and was a key leader in the successful launch of heavy-duty pickup trucks in Flint, Michigan. Brands he has supported have earned numerous J.D. Power awards and other quality and production honors.
Since joining Bowling Green Assembly, Ray has overseen the successful launches of the Corvette E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, and a refreshed Corvette interior, and, through the Performance Build Center within BGA, has guided the LT6 and LT7 engine launches and the return of the Engine Build Experience. He has shown a deep passion for the customer and a determination to highlight the people behind the product — regularly sharing customer enthusiasm with plant employees and championing their work and pride. He has embraced the unique external role of Plant Director for Corvette, actively engaging with the Corvette community through events and initiatives. With his “help the helpers” mentality, Ray also leads philanthropic efforts that support the Bowling Green community, its youth, and its nonprofit partners.
Outside of work, Ray enjoys spending time with his family. He’s the proud father of three daughters and enjoys travelling, trying new things, reading, and working with his hands around the house. He and his wife, Amanda, quickly made Bowling Green home and join in on all it has to offer.
