Devon Blue, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, is a graduate of Tennessee State University where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. From the age of 8 years old, Devon knew she wanted to be an engineer and credits her Mom for giving her the drive and encouragement to see it through. She began her career in the automotive industry as a summer intern for General Motors at the full size truck plant in Flint, MI in 1998.
Graduating in 2000, she hired in full time with General Motors and has held several roles including manufacturing, validation, quality and more recently, program management, as the current Corvette Program Manager.
While working full time, Devon earned a Masters of Science degree in Manufacturing Operations from Kettering University through the General Motor’s Technical Education Program. She also received a People Make Quality Happen Award for her dedication to alleviating quality issues at Moraine Assembly in 2006, as well as earning recognition for a tool secret she helped developed for GM while she was the Lead Validation Engineer on the Li-Ion high voltage battery for the Chevrolet Volt. For her contributions on launching the 2020 Corvette Stingray, Devon was a recipient of the 2020 Women of Color in STEM Technology All-Star Award.
She has had the pleasure of working her last 7 years on the Corvette program, which she coins as the best role she has had so far in her career. Devon started working on the Corvette program as the Program Quality Manager helping to lead one of the most successful and iconic Corvette generations with the C8. She was instrumental in identifying issues and driving the team to implement robust solutions on the 2020 Corvette Stingray which received many accolades including top ranking vehicle in JD Power Initial Quality Study, JD Power APPEAL, North American Car of the Year, Motor Trend Car of the Year, and many more!
As the Program Manager, Devon helps guide a cross-functional team from all of the various business units within General Motors such as design, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and purchasing just to name a few. The key to her role is ensuring that everyone is meeting their deliverables on time, with quality, and within budget. The mid-engine Corvette continues to receive new awards and accolades annually in part to Devon’s dedication and leadership to the extremely bright and hardworking Corvette team.
In addition to Devon’s passion for Corvettes, she is also passionate about fitness and wellness. She enjoys working out and has a nutrition certification. It brings her joy to be able to use her knowledge to help her friends and family meet their health and fitness goals. She also enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband, Percy, of over 21 years and her three children, Jordan, Jasmine, and Jamie.
