About

Janet Henderson

Janet Henderson’s remarkable individual journey is a testament to the power of determination and resilience. In 1990 Janet alongside her partner Robert, embarked on a courageous entrepreneurial endeavor, founding their first company with a meager $200 investment, which represented their life savings at the time. This decision was born out of necessity when Robert faced a job loss due to a company relocation.

Janet’s unwavering determination led them to pursue contract work in manufacturing companies, specializing in maintenance tasks that went beyond the ordinary. Robert’s expertise in production equipment quickly gained recognition in the industry, laying the foundation for their success.

Janet’s unique skills and experiences also played a pivotal role in their journey. Having recently completed a two-year accounting program with Tandy Corporation during the emergence of the computer age, she brought valuable financial acumen to their partnership. This combination of talents allowed them to grow their millwright and manufacturing business significantly.

Janet’s vision evolved into a way of life, not just for their family but for the families of up to 65 employees. In 2003, Janet achieved one of her most outstanding accomplishments when she was named the Small Businessperson of the Year by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. This prestigious honor, awarded to only one person annually for over three decades, highlighted her exceptional achievements. Notably, Janet is one of only three women ever to receive this distinction.
After her children completed their college education and the company was eventually sold, Janet pursued further personal growth. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Liberty University, showcasing her commitment to self-improvement.

Subsequently, Janet embraced a fulfilling role as the Motorsports Sales Director at the local Conventions and Visitors Bureau. Over the course of a decade, she became an integral part of the Motorsports Community, contributing her expertise to various events, including the Tri-Five Nationals, Camaro Fest, and the prestigious CACW. Her work also extended to events such as the Wally Parks Hot Rod Reunion, Buick GS Nationals, Holley LS Fest, Holley MoParty, NMRA All-Ford World Finals, and the Corvette Caravans.

Janet’s role allowed her to promote Bowling Green, KY, as a hub for motorsports enthusiasts throughout the Eastern United States. Her tireless efforts showcased the city’s attractions, from Beech Bend Park and Raceway to the National Corvette Museum and the exhilarating NCM Motorsports Park.

In October of the previous year, after careful contemplation and prayer, Janet made the decision to retire, prioritizing her role as a devoted daughter to her aging mother and a cherished Nana to her grandchildren.

Janet’s journey is a shining example of the resilience, determination, and commitment to personal and professional growth. We celebrate her remarkable achievements and the indelible mark she has left on her community, the world of motorsports, and the Cultural Awareness Corvette Weekend.
