Ron Jones

Ronald Jones is a distinguished achiever and a significant contributor to his community and industry. His journey began at the age of eleven when he started selling barbecue on the streets of his childhood neighborhood of Indianapolis, specifically outside the Fredrick Douglas Recreation Park. This park holds historical significance as it was home to the first golf course in the United States designed for African Americans, attracting numerous prominent African American celebrities during the 1950s.

Two years later, Ron’s family established a brick-and-mortar location that has remained a beloved culinary institution in Indianapolis for an impressive 72 years. Now as the president of BQ Heaven Inc., Ron has maintained unwavering dedication to quality processing and stringent standards, resulting in heavenly products encompassing meats, sides, desserts, and sauces that are unparalleled in taste and excellence.

Ron’s influence extends beyond the culinary world. When Indianapolis embarked on a comprehensive growth plan that involved bringing professional sports teams to the city, Bar-B-Q Heaven played a pivotal role in this development. The establishment became synonymous with some of the city’s most iconic venues, including The Market Square Arena, Hoosier Dome, Lucas Oil Stadium, The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Ron is a passionate car enthusiast with a deep love for automotive hobbies. He openly shares his passion through the meticulous restoration of several collectible cars. Ron is an esteemed member of La Sale Douzaine (The Dirty Dozen), a community of fellow collectible car enthusiasts. His commitment to the automotive world is further exemplified by his longstanding involvement with the NHRA teach team, where he has brought his expertise in racing to the forefront. Ron is also a respected member of the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS), National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC), and United Council of Corvette Clubs (UCCC). His contributions to these automotive-affiliated communities are immeasurable. Notably, Ron is a proud partner of the certified Roy Hill Drag Racing School located in North Carolina, showcasing his commitment to education and community development.

Lastly, Ron has dedicated himself to fostering youth interests in auto racing by establishing relationships and sponsorships with The Soap Box Derby. His support of this group, passionate about auto racing, has made a significant impact.

In 2023, Mr. Jones was awarded the Minority Achievers Award that acknowledges the achievements of  Indianapolis top minority professionals and community leaders. Ronald Jones’s unwavering dedication and relentless support have played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of Indianapolis.
