VIVAN ROGERS PICKARD

Vivian Rogers Pickard is a board leader with a history of driving change in Fortune 500 environments in public policy, strategic planning, business development, diversity and inclusion, and marketing. Her performance in healthcare and the automotive industry is also well documented. Vivian’s work in high-profile positions within finance, human resources, healthcare, and public policy, affords her a deep industry knowledge that she leverages as part of serving as a strategic thought leader to Fortune 500, private companies, and nonprofit CEOs through the Pickard Group. She is currently advising Kyyba Tech, Sterling Insurance Group, and the Motown Museum. She added immeasurable value to raising $43M for the museum’s expansion.

Vivian is active on corporate boards, including Fifth Third Bank, Southeast Region, and Crown Automotive; she contributes to the nom/gov committee, participates in risk analysis, and oversees corporate governance matters. For Global Automotive Alliance, she advises the CEO. Vivian is a member of the International Women’s Forum and Women’s Corporate Director.  As President of the General Motors Foundation and Director, Corporate Relations, Vivian spearheaded efforts to strengthen communities through partnerships and investments in education, health and human services, environment and energy, and community development. Vivian championed General Motors’ giving efforts, oversaw the Foundation’s strategic plan and $60M+ annual budget, as well as $10M in cause-related marketing. Her tenure was marked by more than $350M in donations to support the safety of teen drivers, send students to college, educate parents, and promote nonprofit organizations. Her legacy increased donation potential for the GM Foundation.

Vivian is widely respected for her community and philanthropic efforts, maintaining an active voice on numerous boards, including the Henry Ford Health System Foundation, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, National Cares Mentoring Movement, and the Black Women’s Agenda. Earlier she served as past President of The Black Women’s Agenda, Inc., and past Board Chair of Inforum, an acclaimed professional women’s alliance, where she led business development fundraising and oversaw the president.

Given her strategic capabilities, Vivian was appointed by Governor Snyder to serve as a member of the Medical Marijuana Board for the State of Michigan. As part of a team of five, she developed policies in connection with medical marijuana licensing. Governors Engler and Granholm also appointed her to serve on the Michigan Community Service Commission and Governor Granholm to serve on the Arts & Cultural Affairs Commission. In 2020, Governor Whitmer appointed Vivian to the Women’s Commission.

Vivian is a numerous award winner for leadership in the community. She is acknowledged with the Spirit of the Dream Award from the United Negro College Fund, Driven’s Philanthropic Pioneer Award, and Multicultural Media Award for Global Community Leadership, and The Charles H. Moore Award for Leadership in Corporate Community Engagement. She was recognized as one of 25 Influential Black Women in Business by The Network Journal, named one of the 50 Most Powerful African Americans in Southeast Michigan [POWER 50Michigan Chronicle], and received the Diversity Business Leader Award from Corp! Magazine, the Global Community Award at the North American International Auto Show.

Vivian completed her Master of Business Administration in Personnel Management from Central Michigan University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Human Services Administration from Ferris State University. She received an honorary doctorate from Ferris State University in 2016 and was named Alumni of the Year in 2015. She is a lifetime member of the NAACP, the National Council of Negro Women, the National Black MBA Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Detroit.
